1970 Triumph Bonneville

A 1970 T120R Bonneville that Triumph Classic Motorcycles restored about five years back. The fully-rebuilt engine has 3,084 miles on it since then — broken in but barely used. We fitted a fresh clutch when it came through and gave it a service, and that's all it needed. 650 twin, twin Amals for crisp throttle response, fully rebuilt front end. It's the last pre-OIF year, which to a lot of people is the year to have.

Background
The 1970 T120R is the last Bonneville built around the original Triumph frame. From '71 on, Triumph used the polarizing oil-in-frame chassis with its taller seat height. The 650 twin, dual carbs, and four-speed gearbox are all at their final pre-OIF refinement. The model gets its name because Johnny Allen ran 214 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats on a Triumph in 1956; the company put it on the tank in '59 and never took it off.
